Dirty Pipe vulnerability could leave Samsung Galaxy S22 series vulnerable to hacker attacks
Security researcher Max Kellermann recently discovered a new Linux vulnerability that makes certain devices running Android 12 software vulnerable to remote attacks. The vulnerability, called Dirty Pipe or CVE-2022-0847, affects recent versions of the Linux kernel.
This vulnerability has only been seen on a few device models so far, such as the Galaxy S22 series and Pixel 6. Also, no cyberattacks have been made so far by exploiting this vulnerability. With this vulnerability already coming to light, the developers started working to fix the problem.
The March 2022 security patch released by Samsung made no mention of the CVE-2022-0847 vulnerability. However, the Galaxy S22 series may receive an additional security update soon. A fix for the Linux kernel was designed with the help of security researchers.
