Almost every platform has a comment system, but why not Spotify? Spotify must be thinking so too, as it announced that it is testing audio responses for playlists. This test came about thanks to a Vietnam-based Reddit user who posted the relevant screenshots.

In the new interface “Yes, how do you think?” He writes and continues: “Record an episode to share your thoughts on the playlist.”

At the bottom of the prompt is a green record button to start audio recording, which is then uploaded to the service as a podcast episode. There are also some simple editing options such as adding background music and tags.

The company confirmed the test in a statement to TechCrunch. “At Spotify, we’re always looking for ways to improve our users’ experience on our platform, and we regularly test features that we believe will add value to listeners and creators,” the statement said. The statement continues: “We’re currently testing limited in-app audio rendering, but we don’t have any more details to share.”

It’s worth noting, though, that Spotify often tries out new features that are usually available as limited releases to the public but never officially materialized. In recent months, we’ve seen the platform test everything from a TikTok-style discovery feed to NFT galleries for musicians. So let’s not forget that this new feature may not be available to everyone.
