New unlock feature coming to Android phones
Google did not share any dates for the Watch Unlock feature. In this context, the feature, which was opened to access for Pixel devices, managed to collect positive comments from users. Within the scope of this feature, if you have a compatible smartwatch model, it will be enough to tap a notification or swipe up on the lock screen to unlock your device.
However, for this, let’s say that your watch should be on your wrist or close to your phone. In this context, problems such as your fingers getting wet or dirty, the face unlock not working or being disabled will also be alleviated. Given that the feature runs on an Android 13-based API, it is not yet known why it was delayed so much. Maybe the developers needed more time and it was delayed to Android 14.
Reports shared today state that the feature will be available very soon. However, it is not yet clear whether this announcement will be the launch of Android 14 or Pixel 8 series / Pixel Watch 2. We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out.
