Ghost Kitchen trend is rising. So much so that Tiktok has started preparations for the ghost kitchen concept. Tiktok has started opening ghost kitchens across the US to serve up the dishes made popular by the social media app.
A total of 300 TikTok restaurant locations are planned for March, Business Insider reported. The target is to reach 1,000 by the end of 2022.
TikTok plans to reinvest its profits in such creators and culinary talents on the platform.
Partnership Established
Tiktok has announced that it has partnered with Virtual Dining Concepts to launch a delivery-based food service chain from March 2022.
The menu of the social media-themed restaurant will feature dishes popularized by users on the platform, such as baked white pasta, pate burgers, and pasta chips.
Will Operate from National Chain Restaurants
TikTok Kitchens is expected to launch with 300 locations and will operate from national chain restaurants like Buca di Beppo and Bertucci’s. These companies will join the popular ghost kitchen trend where they offer direct orders without a physical shop, which has grown in popularity as food deliveries increase during the pandemic.
TikTok has an average of over 130 million monthly active users in the US. #FoodTok – food-related content on TikTok, including recipe experiments and cooking tips, is one of the platform’s most popular corners, and TikTok aims to capitalize on that attention.
According to the statement, customers will be able to order for TikTok Kitchen through Grubhub.
Restaurants nationwide can also apply to become a “market partner”, allowing them to host food preparation for TikTok Kitchen orders, according to the statement. Virtual Dining Concepts said it aims to open 1,000 locations by the end of 2022.
