The Wall Street Journal revealed the details of the incident by interviewing people who sleep broadcasts on TikTok. Among these people is Jakey Boehm, who has more than 1 million followers. In his statement, Boehm says that he goes to bed to sleep every night at 22:00 and opens TikTok Live. The 28-year-old broadcaster states that he earns an average of $35,000 a month just by broadcasting sleep. So Boehm earns more than $400,000 annually.
According to WSJ’s report, viewers also watch these broadcasts because they are relaxing. Some even see it as friendship. Others watch such broadcasts just to fall asleep. In fact, sleep broadcasts first appeared on Twitch. The conversion of sleep publications into income, of course, comes from the gifts sent. TikTok receives some of the money paid to these gifts, and the user some to himself. It is not known how many percent TikTok gets, but it is stated to be similar to the industry.
