The administration of the US House of Representatives announced on Tuesday that TikTok has been banned from government devices. This means that no one can install and use the app on government devices anymore. So why was TikTok banned?
According to the Executive Chairman of the Assembly, TikTok poses a high risk due to security issues. He also instructed that the application be immediately removed from the official devices on which it is installed. Although the ban does not affect normal users, there is a possibility that TikTok will be completely banned in the United States in the future.
The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) also requested that TikTok be removed from the Android and iOS app stores on the grounds that it is an advanced surveillance tool. Last month, after the FBI warned that the data collected on TikTok could be used maliciously by the Beijing administration, the application was examined by the US authorities.
