Volkswagen recently made a statement about its new electric vehicle plant. Announcing that it will make a change in its digital ecosystem, Volkswagen gave the good news that it will build a new technology campus.
After BMW, Mercedes and Audi, Volkswagen also turned to the electric vehicle market. Announcing that it has started working for Trinity, Passat’s counterpart, the company will make a radical change in software.
Volkswagen will establish a new technology campus
The company has announced that it has reorganized its Technical Development division. The division, located in Wolfsburg, Germany, will focus more on high-tech parts of the vehicles.
Rolling up its sleeves for its vehicles to adapt to the digital ecosystem seamlessly, the company will train its 11,500 employees on this issue. The work, which was started with the slogan of “transformation into a technology company”, will be completed in the next five years.
Thomas Ulbrich, head of Volkswagen Technical Development, said: “Cars are increasingly becoming a software product powered by electricity. We make the Technical Development department more efficient by focusing our processes and organization on systems and functions rather than components. We started working with the motto of software first, not hardware first. That’s why we’re going to make the development available to users of all sizes.” said.
Announcing that it will invest 873 million dollars in total, Volkswagen will establish a new technology campus. Underlining that they will raise the bar for vehicle development, the company announced that they will retrain more than 4,000 people.
In the technology campus to be opened, studies will be carried out on subjects such as design, conceptualization, user experience (UX), product strategy and model series. The investments will contribute to the development of the new vehicle platform known as Project Trinity. The fully electric platform, which is expected to be introduced in 2026, will be used in vehicles of both Volkswagen Group and third-party customers.
