Samsung Display has announced that it has started mass production of OLED panels aimed at laptops, integrating the touch feature directly into the panel. The display panel manufacturer said that panels with OCTA or on-cell touch AMOLED technology will first be included in the Galaxy Book laptops, which will be introduced with the Galaxy S23 series.

Samsung Display says that panels with OCTA technology will be in 16:10 ratio, 120Hz refresh rate, 3K resolution. OCTA uses touch sensors directly inside the panel to provide touchscreen capability. This makes the panel thinner.

Today, this technology of Samsung Display lies behind the thin panels of Samsung and Apple’s smartphones. Samsung Display, the world’s largest OLED panel manufacturer, also produces OLED panels for tablets and laptops due to the slowdown in the growth in the smartphone industry.
