As the technology war between the USA and China continues, the US government, which limited the shipments of ASML to China last month, has now turned its eyes to the high-end chips of Nvidia and AMD. According to a document submitted by Nvidia to the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), both companies appeared to be limiting their shipments to Russia and China.
It could hit Nvidia.
It is reported that the new restriction, which covers Nvidia A100 / H100 and AMD MI100 / MI200 graphics processors, which are used especially in artificial intelligence processes and server side, is brought against the possibility of using the technologies for military purposes. However, both companies will now need to obtain a license from the US government before exporting these chips to China.

In the documents submitted to the SEC, Nvidia stated that the new decision will create a big problem if customers do not want to buy alternative products or if the government does not license important customers, and Nvidia said that it risks the planned sale of approximately 400 million dollars to China. In addition, the company said it was “contacting customers in China” and that “planned or future orders are met with products that are not subject to the new license requirement.”
On the AMD side, in addition to the models listed above, it is reported that the MI250, one of the company’s most powerful solutions, has been banned from sales in Russia and China. On the other hand, the chip giant thinks that MI100 chips will not be added to the banned models and that the new rules will not have a significant impact on the company’s business.
