Only 70 MHz left to 4 GHz
For those who don’t know, many RTX 4090 versions already available can reach clock speeds of 2.9 to 3.0 GHz depending on the workload. At this point, let us remind you that other features of the card include 76 billion transistors, 2520MHz boost speed, 16384 CUDA cores, 128 SM, 384-bit bus and 24GB GDDR6X memory.
As can be seen above, there is no GPU frequency ranking for graphics cards in the HWBOT competition, so to speak. Instead, a software called GPUPI is used, which is based on OpenCL or CUDA optimizations and calculates the mathematical constant Pi in parallel. So let’s point out that GPUPI is not a graphics-intensive comparison. But still, it’s a significant achievement and the GPU community has never been closer to the 4.0 GHz barrier on graphics cards.
Let’s not forget that this experiment was done at low temperature down to -192°C and with special liquid nitrogen cooling. But the results are really exciting. At this point, we can say that new record attempts will continue with the RTX 4090.
