READING NOW New processor surprise from Qualcomm: What do we know about Orion processors?

Qualcomm has announced a new CPU sub-brand for its Snapdragon product family, called Orion. The new CPU will be released in 2023 and will be available to manufacturers for use in Windows PCs, smartphones and other devices. The company announced the new CPU at the Snapdragon Summit, but gave little detail on what it contains.

The company has been making Snapdragon-branded chips for Windows and Chrome OS computers for several years; however, it has been slow to deploy them on many Windows devices. Now the company aims to make up for this with its new brand Oryon.

Oryon is based on the technology that emerged with Qualcomm’s acquisition of Nuvia for $1.4 billion in 2019, which was founded by 3 chip experts who previously worked on Apple’s A-series chips. While it is claimed that the new generation chips will outperform existing products for Windows computers, the company supports this in the promotion, calling Oryon a “new level of performance”. Let’s see how strong Oryon will be when it hits the market.
