As is known, today’s large companies have easy access to new chips and designs, while universities, researchers and small businesses face barriers such as restrictions and license fees. The USA, which recently enacted the $ 50 billion CHIPS law to increase chip production, is signing a new cooperation with Google.
To support innovative ideas
While the new partnership is expected to eliminate issues such as restrictions and license fees, it will allow the production of open source chips.
Reportedly, the new agreement to be led by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will fund nearly 40 unique chip designs in partnership with Google for nanosensors, bioelectronics, artificial intelligence and quantum computing. Thus, open source designs to be used in different applications such as chips are expected to benefit researchers’ new ideas.

Making statements about the new agreement, Google Public Sector CEO Will Grannis pointed out the company’s long-standing open source leadership and stated that public and private institutions will cooperate and repeat each other’s work.
