After a long silence from developer Blizzard Entertainment, Overwatch 2 is back on the agenda thanks to the arrival of the Overwatch 2 beta. Showing fans what kind of innovations they will encounter when Overwatch 2 is released, the beta version represents the beginning of an exciting new era for Overwatch. Now that the beta is out, players around the world will be able to experience the long-awaited sequel.
The Overwatch 2 beta is the pre-release version that developer Blizzard uses for testing. As Overwatch 2 significantly overhauls the Overwatch experience, the team wants to use the beta to gather feedback from the player community on these changes. Blizzard will then make some adjustments from the full version accordingly.
What does the Overwatch 2 beta offer?
The first Overwatch 2 beta included a few additions and changes that players would expect to see when Overwatch 2 was released, and gave them the chance to experience the PvP mode of the first Overwatch. Players included 5v5 combat with at least one tank hero per team, extensive rework for new damage heroes Sojourn, Orisa, Doomfist, Bastin, and Sombra. The beta also gave both teams a chance to experience the Push game mode, where they battle across four new maps and a robot that they can use to attack their opponent’s home base. The first beta also included the game’s environments, characters, and special effects with sharper fidelity, improved lighting, new sound effects, and more.
The second beta, currently available for download, includes everything from the first test plus the new tank hero Junker Queen, a new hybrid map called Rio, and new default skins for each character. The new beta also includes more tweaks and balance changes for various heroes. The beta will run until July 18.
