After Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted, Criterion Games is back in the chair once again for the Need for Speed series. The company, which is also the developer of the Burnout series, announced that EA’s arcade racing series will return to PC and current generation consoles this year. The new game will be called Need for Speed Unbound.

As you can see from the gameplay footage, the studio is transitioning to a new graphic style compared to other Need for Speed games. Criterion says it offers the most realistic-looking cars in Need for Speed history, in a street-art-inspired way.

This time, players will race through the streets of Lakeshore City. Artist ASAP Rocky will also be included in the story, and will also leave their mark on the game with brand new music made just for the game.

The statement describes the new Need for Speed Unbound as follows: “You have to take risks to get to the top. Choose how and when to do it all, by fighting big on the street, outrunning the cops, or placing bets against rival racers. But remember, the faster you go, the hotter the chase. Think smart, make bold decisions and race the streets of Lakeshore.”

Criterion promises a wide variety of car customization options for the player character that will enhance your driving style, along with cosmetic items from popular fashion labels. Alongside the single player scenario, Unbound will also come with competitive street racing for multiplayer action seekers.

Need for Speed Unbound will be available for pre-order on December 2 for PC (EA app, Steam, Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 for $69.99. EA Play Pro members on PC will be able to access the game from day one at no extra cost.
