Tinder, the most popular ‘friendship’ application in the social media world, adds a new feature to the ‘Discover’ tab that it introduced in the past months. Introduced in partnership with Spotify, the ‘Music Mode’ feature will allow users to examine each other’s music tastes before pairing. In fact, Tinder had already added a similar feature in 2016 in partnership with Spotify. The feature called ‘Anthem’ allowed you to see the favorite songs of the users you came across. But this new ‘Music Mode’ feature offers a slightly different experience.

Profiles that add their favorite songs have been found to get more ‘matches’:

Users need to link their Tinder account to their Spotify account in order to use this new feature. Then, you can listen to their favorite songs in a 30-second loop while browsing the profiles of the users you come across. Likewise, other users can listen to your favorite song while viewing your profile. While Tinder shares that the taste of music is extremely effective in understanding the person in front of us, she states that ‘one-to-one relationships’ can be strengthened with this new feature.

The data provided by the company is that profiles that share music get more ‘matches’. Sharing that 40% of Generation Z users add their favorite songs to their profiles, Tinder states that these users receive 10% more matches. As you can remember, the company made a radical decision and made a huge change in its design. Adding a lot of innovations to offer its users a more interactive experience, Tinder seems to be on its way to becoming a social media platform like TikTok and Instagram rather than just a ‘friendship’ site.
