READING NOW New malware that encrypts data on Android phone: Antivirus programs do not get caught!
According to data from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-IN), the newly discovered malware, named Daam, encrypts data on the targeted Android device and is not caught by antivirus applications.

It steals all the information on the phone and encrypts it with AES

Daam infects phones via Android APK files and encrypts the infected phone with the AES encryption algorithm. Files are deleted from local storage; only the encrypted files with the .enc extension and the readme file with the ransom note are left behind. It was stated that the malware was able to hijack call logs and contacts, gain access to the camera, change passwords, take screenshots, and access downloaded and uploaded files.

Be careful when downloading the APK!

CERT-IN offered well-known advice to protect yourself from pests like Daam. He made recommendations such as limiting download sources to official app stores, reading everything about the app before downloading, granting only the necessary permissions for the app to work, avoid touching links in messages and emails, and beware of shortened URLs.
