Apple rolled out the macOS Monterey update last week as part of its annual operating system update. However, many users are reporting that their Mac crashes and cannot be booted after updating to the latest macOS version. All reporters have computers with Intel processors.
A method using Apple Configurator 2 has been suggested to solve this problem in the Apple Support Communities. The software is essentially restoring the computer’s firmware. “In very rare cases, such as a power outage during a macOS update or upgrade, a Mac may become unresponsive and therefore the firmware needs to be revived or restored,” says Apple in a support document.
Apple has not officially acknowledged the problem. However, we recommend users to follow these steps and restore the firmware on their Mac if their machine is affected.
