Judge Orders Tornado Cash Developer to Stay in Jail

A new decision has been announced in the Tornado Cash case, one of the shocking developments of 2022 for the crypto industry. The judge has ordered Tornado Cash developer Alexey Pertsev, detained in the Netherlands, to remain in jail until the next hearing in April.

The court has ruled that Pertsev, the developer of Tornado Cash, which serves as a crypto mixer, remains in detention pending a hearing scheduled for April 21.

The East Brabant court, which handled the case, said in a statement that an investigation would be held on May 24.

Dutch authorities arrested Pertsev in August after the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on Tornado Cash, the crypto-scrambler protocol. US officials accused the protocol of money laundering for people linked to Russia and North Korea.

After these accusations of the USA, many cryptocurrency exchanges suspended Tornado Cash-related accounts and launched an investigation.
