Since the first generation launched in 1997, the Civic Type R has been among the iconic models. We were also eagerly awaiting the new generation of the Civic Type R, one of the indispensable models of the hot hatchback class. After a long teaser campaign, the new generation Honda Civic Type R finally showed its face.
The new Civic Type R comes with more power
With the introduction, we met the new generation Honda Civic Type R. However, Honda has not shared some important technical details of the vehicle. For now, unfortunately, we have to be content with knowing that the new model is only more powerful.
Rising on the foundations of the 11th generation Honda Civic, the new Type R continues to host the 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder engine used in the previous model. Regarding the technical data of the new model, Honda only said “more powerful and sensitive”.
With this statement, it is certain that the model that produced 320 horsepower in its predecessor will have a power above this figure. In addition, it is very pleasing to hear that the new generation Civic Type R will continue on its way with a 6-speed manual gearbox in the automobile world where automatic gears have taken over. The mechanical limited-slip differential still remains in the vehicle.
We can say that it is disappointing that Honda did not share technical details. However, the new model proved its speed by breaking the Suzuka track record. We expect to see the new Civic Type R at the Nürburgring soon. In addition, the Honda LogR system, which provides real-time information and supported by a digital stopwatch, will be offered in the new model for users on the track.
If we move on to the design of the vehicle, we see that it moves away from the standard model with its wide front grille, air intake on the hood, 19-inch wheels, large rear wing, triple exhaust outlets and rear diffuser. Despite all these aggressive details, we can say that the vehicle has a calmer and more mature design than its predecessor. The new model will be available in Rallye Red, Racing Pearl Blue, Crystal Pearl Black, Sonic Pearl Gray and Championship White color options.
Sporty details continue in the interior of the new model. The first to attract attention are the red sports seats and floor mats. Apart from the red details that reflect the character of the vehicle, the Type R logo on the front panel also reminds the driver that it is in a special model.
The new Honda Civic Type R will go on sale in the last quarter of this year. We hope to reach the details of the new model in the coming days. So what do you think about the new Civic Type R? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
