Sony has released system update betas for PS4 and PS5 with new features and UI improvements. This is the second PS5 system software beta to date. It introduced new ways to customize group chat across Game Base and accessibility settings.

The PS4 system software beta came with the community-requested Open Parties feature. This feature is also available in the PS5 beta version as of now.

You can now directly launch SharePlay for PS4

With the new party chat option, you can have both open and closed parties. Additionally, there is a voice chat reporting feature that provides visual indicators for you to identify who is speaking. You can now start SharePlay directly from the voice chat card. This means you don’t have to launch Share Screen first.

Voice chats are called Parties

On PS4 you have the option to individually adjust the volume of everyone in a party. This feature is already available on PS5 right now. Sony has also made some fundamental improvements on the PS5 side. Voice chats are now called parties. You can view all your friends in the ‘Friends’ section of the control menu.

You can create a group directly in the game and add players there. A live stream icon now appears in the control center when someone in your group shares their screen. In addition, you can easily cancel friend requests with the reject button.

New UI features have also arrived on PS5. These now include options to list your game collection by genre. You can pin the games or applications you choose to your home screen by selecting the ‘Keep at Home’ item with the options button. The beta update also increased the number of apps on the home screen to 14.

Six more languages are included in Narrator, which reads on-screen text aloud and provides spoken guidance for operating the console. The beta update finally adds mono audio support for headphones. You can now display it with a checkmark in the settings so you can see it’s turned on.
