Rumors that the official One UI 5 beta will launch soon, and internal previews already underway, are getting users excited to see what Samsung has in store for Android 13. More recently, 9to5google has displayed new features available to some beta users.
Adapted notification design
Notification design slightly changed between One UI 4 and One UI 5. New icons for notifications are available, along with an updated design style. In the notification shade and quick settings, the opacity has been slightly tweaked.
Android permission dialogs
Below were the Android permission boxes available in One UI 4. However, according to the image in the beta version of One UI 5, this box seems to be in the middle.
Copying text from gallery
Samsung has added OCR (Optical Character Recognition) that lets you copy text from your Gallery images to the keyboard. When your device detects text in a photo, it will have a button at the bottom of the gallery that lets you pull text from the image. This was already in Bixby Vision. But it has been converted to its own feature in One UI 5.
Security and privacy center
One UI 5 will gather all your accounts, passwords, security and privacy features on a single screen and provide easy access to everything. It also scans for anything that might abuse app permissions or a security setting that isn’t enabled and recommends enabling it for better security.
New multitasking gestures
Labs now has two options for accessing the multitasking feature. You can now swipe up from the bottom of the screen to access the split view or swipe in from the top right corner to create a popup.
Various changes
- There will be some innovations in Samsung Notes.
