The Canadian police department has issued a warning text about crypto thieves posing as delivery drivers to investors’ homes.

On July 19, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) in Richmond, a city south of Vancouver, said that heists involving crypto investors had increased in the past 12 months. RCMP did not disclose details about the events. He simply stated that the thief, in each case, pretended to be a delivery driver, stealing victims’ information that gave them access to their cryptocurrency accounts.

A statement came from the authorities on the subject.

Sergeant Major Gene Hsieh from the Richmond RCMP Major Crime Unit expressed his views on the events as follows;

“Someone is targeting these victims for cryptocurrencies. A warning is required for public safety. The suspects enter the victim’s home posing as a delivery person or authorized person. After the suspects break into the house, they steal the victims’ information that gives them access to their cryptocurrency accounts.”

Senior Sergeant Jill Long of Delta Police Investigative Services said the suspects knew where the victims lived, as well as investing heavily in cryptocurrency. The police department has confirmed that it has made an arrest, but has yet to confirm whether the several incidents are linked. As the investigations continue, information on how much cryptocurrency was stolen was not shared.
