Popular instant messaging platform WhatsApp is coming up with new features day by day. Especially recently, the fact that the platforms have similar features to each other has started to increase. This brings competition between them. Now WhatsApp under Meta is working on an Instagram-like feature with the ‘Status’ feature.
WhatsApp Status feature will be optional
It turned out that WhatsApp, one of the most used platforms in the world, offers new features to some beta testers. This feature consists of users viewing status updates in the chat list. As it is known, it is possible to view the stories on Instagram by touching that person from the chat list. Now the similar feature is coming to WhatsApp.
According to the shared screenshot, when a person in your contacts shares a new status, it will be possible to watch directly from their profile photo in the ‘Chats’ section. According to the report prepared by WABetaInfo, the platform has released the beta version of WhatsApp for Android 2.22.18.17 to some test users.
It is claimed that the feature, which has been tried by a small number of beta users for now, will come for iOS in the coming period. In addition, as in Instagram, there is the possibility of adding advertisements to the statuses followed. Users who do not want the statuses to be in the chat list will be able to fulfill their requests. This shows that the feature will be used optionally.
WhatsApp has not yet made a statement about the status feature. It was also reported that the company is working on a feature to recover deleted messages in a future update. According to WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp beta update for Android 2.22.13.5 has a feature to help users recover accidentally deleted messages.
In addition to these, WhatsApp has recently released its app for Windows. Also, the company claims that the native app for Windows improves reliability and speed. With all the features that the company has been working on recently, it allows users to use it effectively.
