Elon Musk said that Twitter is working on a feature that would allow brands and organizations to identify accounts associated with them. Now this feature is implemented with the Twitter Blue for Business feature.
What is Twitter Blue for Business?
A brand or company that is a Twitter Blue for Business subscriber will be able to link any number of individuals, businesses and brands linked to its account to its main account. Once this is done, affiliated—or, as we might say, partner—accounts will have a small badge of their parent company’s profile picture next to a blue or gold checkmark. Brands will now also have square profile pictures instead of round ones to further differentiate their presence on the platform.
The purpose of this second token is to make it easier for businesses to create a “network” on Twitter within their organization. In this way, businesses can connect their leadership, brands, support branches, employees or teams with the main account. For example, the icon of the official main Twitter (@Twitter) account appears next to the Twitter Support (@TwitterSupport) account, and when it is clicked, it takes you to the main account.
Limited pilot program currently available
According to the statements made, all the above features are currently being tested with a limited pilot program and are only used for certain institutions. However, the feature will be available for more institutions and organizations next year. Thus, company employees will have a second badge on their Twitter profile that they work for the company in question. This badge will be awarded directly to accounts via the list provided to Twitter by the company.
Some details about the Blue for Business subscription fee or whether it will have more features have not been shared yet. From now on, we will start seeing Gold badges for companies on Twitter, Gray badges for government accounts, and Blue badges for users on the platform.
