Although gasoline and diesel cars occupy a large place in our lives, electric vehicles will soon replace them. Many manufacturers have also focused on electric models. MINI, which has been in the electric vehicle sector only with the Cooper SE model, intends to increase the number of electric models.
Electric MINI Cooper and Countryman to debut in 2024
MINI gave information about new electric car models with its statement. Accordingly, the company will launch the new Countryman model in February 2024. On the other hand, the new electric MINI Cooper will be with us in the summer of 2024.
The British manufacturer will offer a combination of internal combustion and electric motors in the new generation of the Countryman model. There is no clear information about the electric version of the new Countryman, which is planned to be produced in Leipzig, Germany. However, the new model can be expected to have the same layout as its platform sibling, the BMW iX1.
On the other hand, the electric MINI Cooper will have its own platform, unlike the Countryman. The new MINI Cooper, which will be built on an infrastructure built for electric models, is being developed together with the Chinese company Great Wall. Claims continue to come about the model, which has been testing for a while.
According to the information received, the new electric MINI Cooper will have a power between 135 kW and 160 kW. In addition, the electric hatchback model is expected to have two different battery options of 40 kWh and 54 kWh. Great Wall’s Ora Funky Cat hatchback model is powered by 45.4 and 59.3 kWh batteries. The petrol MINI Cooper, which is expected to be introduced in July 2024, is expected to be the last MINI with internal combustion.
