READING NOW New details came from Apple’s M3 family: 40-core GPU is on the way
Apple, which abandoned Intel processors in 2020; It had introduced the M1 chip, which put the CPU, GPU and RAM in the same package. The ARM-based M1 revolutionized its performance and efficiency. Since then, Apple has developed its M-series chips and completed the M2 family in recent months. Thus, the company switched its work to the M3 series. The core numbers of the M3 series, which has been the subject of leaks for a while, have emerged.

The standard M3 processor will have the same core array

Mark Gurman, known for his sources close to Apple, shared the details of the new M3 chipsets in Bloomberg’s Power On corner. According to the information received, the entire M3 family will be produced in TSMC’s 3nm fabrication process. Thus, this series will offer significant performance and efficiency gains over the previous generation. Apart from that, Gurman also talked about the core numbers of the M3 family.

Accordingly, Apple; It will not make significant changes to the standard model M3 processor, which it will use in MacBook Air, Mac mini, iPad Pro and iMac devices. It is stated that the standard M3 chip will have an 8-core (4 performance + 4 efficiency) processor, a maximum of 10 cores of GPU and a maximum of 24GB of RAM, as in the previous generation. Although the core counts of the chipset remain the same, producing the chip in the 3nm process will provide significant performance gains. The standard model M3 chip is expected to be introduced later this year.

M3 Pro and M3 Max’s core counts will increase

The M3 Pro, which is expected to be used in MacBook Pro and Mac mini, will have some improvements. Gurman states that the starting model of this chip will have a 12-core (8 performance + 4 efficiency) CPU and an 18-core GPU. The maximum amount of RAM the product will support is not clear. In addition, according to the claims, the M3 Pro will also be used on the 14-inch iPad Pro device.

The M3 Max, which is expected to be used on MacBook Pro and Mac Studio devices, will also have core improvements. According to Gurman, this model will have a 14-core CPU and a 40-core GPU. If there is an increase in the performance cores of the 14-core model, the M3 Max can have serious gains compared to the previous generation.

The standard model M3 will likely be unveiled at an event before the end of this year and will power the next-generation MacBook Air and iMac models. M3 Pro and M3 Max processors are expected to be introduced in the middle of next year. There is not enough information about the M3 Ultra yet.
