The BioShock series, which was first released in 2007 and left a very good taste on the palate of the players with its story and gameplay, also managed to reach a larger audience with its remade versions. Of course, everyone started to wonder if such a beautiful game could be made just because it was such a beautiful movie or series.
The first news about the BioShock movie appeared in 2020 and we conveyed it to you. We even mentioned that 2K Games is developing a new BioShock game. Previous reports were that Universal studio would make a film adaptation of BioShock. According to this news, which came 2 years later, Netflix will undertake the production of the BioShock movie.
Netflix has officially signed with Take-Two Interactive
Over the years several studios, including Universal, to adapt BioShock to film, as we mentioned earlier made an attempt. Director Gore Verbinski was hired to direct a BioShock movie from a screenplay by John Logan in 2008, but that project was shelved due to budgetary concerns, and Verbinski was later in talks to make an adaptation from director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo.
The film was canceled in 2013 after the filmmakers failed to agree with the studio on the film’s budget and target rating. According to the latest news, Take-Two Interactive, the producer of the game, announced that it has agreed with Netflix for the new movie. Strauss Zelnick, Chairman and CEO of Take-Two Interactive, said that the new BioShock movie will be made with Netflix:
“Netflix is among the best and most forward-thinking storytellers in entertainment today. We are thrilled to have them share our vision and commitment to the BioShock series loved by millions of fans around the world. 2K’s Cloud Chamber studio is in active development for the next installment in the series, and we’re extremely confident that, combined with our partnership with Netflix, BioShock will succeed in capturing and engaging audiences like never before.”
We hope BioShock The movie adaptation of ‘s is not like the disastrous adaptations of the past years (see: Assassin’s Creed). What do you think? Please don’t forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
