Twitch, which started its life with game-oriented live broadcasts, started to host different content after years. In addition to playing games, users can now broadcast Twitch just by chatting. Adult content is now included in these broadcasts.
Twitch will introduce new tags for adult content
Twitch has strict rules on adult content. While Twitch hasn’t changed its Community Guidelines for allowing this type of content in any way, it now demands that streams be tagged much more accurately.
Tags offered by Twitch are used by broadcasters to express their own content. Thus, viewers can more easily access the broadcasts that are suitable for them. With the new tags added to the publishing platform, publishers will now be able to use more specific phrases instead of ‘Adult Content’.
With this change, Twitch has added new ones to its content classifications. Broadcasters will thus refer to their live streams more specifically, not just ‘Adult Content’. Here are the new tags that will be available on Twitch:
- Adult game
- sexual themes
- Use of drugs, harmful substances or excessive tobacco
- Depictions of violence, blood, brutality
- Excessive slang and profanity
- Gambling
Twitch announced that streamers will continue to be checked and receive an email alert if they don’t use the correct content tag. Stating that the correct tag will be automatically applied to the broadcast, the company states that the publisher who does not correctly tag their publication will not be subject to a suspension sanction.
Twitch believes these new tags will help protect young viewers, as well as provide ads in a streamable format. With posts tagged in more detail, clearer information will be available to advertisers.
As the scope of content producers on the broadcast platform expands, Twitch also needs to take additional measures. So what do you think about Twitch and adult content? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
