READING NOW New claim for MediaTek Dimensity 9300: It can be a performance monster
Announcing its flagship Dimensity 9200+ platform in the past weeks, MediaTek has turned all its focus to Dimensity 9300. In this context, we continue to hear new leaks about the processor that will rival the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Now finally, new information has emerged about the core configuration of the Dimensity 9300.

MediaTek Dimensity 9300 may surprise with its performance

As you may remember, the current leaks were that the Dimensity 9300, which will be based on 4nm process technology, will be released with the ultra core (Cortex X4) + large core (A715) + small core (Cortex A515) configuration. Now, sources close to the industry say that the flagship processor will have four Cortex-X4 cores and four large cores. So much so that MediaTek has started testing the new platform.

For those who don’t know, Qualcomm and MediaTek’s current flagship processors came up with an octa-core configuration supported by an Arm Cortex-X3. Qualcomm’s next chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, is expected to continue the 1+2+2+4 setup with Cortex X4 core.

Efficiency cores not in the plan

It looks like MediaTek is determined to create an interesting chipset with a higher number of large cores. It is stated that the cores to be included in Dimensity 9300 have the code name “Hunter”. For those who don’t know, Cortex-A5XX, productivity cores, has the code name “Hayes”. So the Hunter codename indicates that this release will not include any productivity cores.

If the new leak is confirmed, we could see the MediTek Dimensity 9300 show significant performance gains. However, the 4+4 setup and the lack of efficiency cores can cause problems such as temperature and power consumption. At this point, it will be really interesting to see what the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 8300 have to offer against each other. Let’s say that we have to wait a little longer to see all this.
