The former manager of Activision Blizzard has been appointed as the CEO of Yuga Labs, one of the important companies in the NFT industry.
With new CEO Daniel Alegre, Yuga Labs is expected to step up its Metaverse efforts. Prior to his career, Alegre held leadership positions at Google, Activision Blizzard and Bertelsmann.
An Experienced Leader Appointed to Yuga Labs
Daniel Alegre is the new CEO of Yuga Labs, the company behind the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and CryptoPunks NFT collections. The executive stepped down from his position as president and business manager of gaming giant Activision Blizzard to join the NFT initiative on April 1.

Sharing the announcement on Twitter, Alegre wrote:
The manager has been in the gaming, entertainment and technology industries for many years. According to his LinkedIn profile, Alegre worked for German media conglomerate Bertelsmann for nearly six years before joining Google, where he held various leadership positions for over 16 years, including global shopping revenue, retail ecosystem involvement, and operations around the world.
Alegre’s arrival was considered a bold move in the NFT industry. Kieran Warwick, co-founder of blockchain role-playing game Illuvium, said that Yuga Labs’ new hire is “big for all of GameFi.” He suggested that Web3 games will spark the next crypto bull run.
