Apple introduced the next generation of CarPlay during WWDC 2022. It was exciting to see the infotainment system display, instrument cluster controls and more go completely under CarPlay control. The highly acclaimed CarPlay gets new features with the update.

CarPlay gets new features

Apple has previously allowed features such as food ordering, parking, and EV charging apps to be used on iOS. Now, iOS 16 application support has started to show itself in two different categories.

Fueling and driving plans features are included with iOS 16. These services are now available to CarPlay users, helping you fill your tank, providing you with route information, toll support, towing assistance and more.

The other two changes coming to CarPlay do not require any updates. With the innovations made, Apple has accelerated the messaging flow when using Siri. The company has also expanded its Podcasts app library.

In iOS 16, there is an option to send a message automatically after reviewing via Siri. If the speech-to-text feature works as expected, it can also be used effectively in CarPlay. When the message is edited, CarPlay will also reveal the option to edit your message for you to review.

Apple is also rolling out more features of the Podcasts app in CarPlay with iOS 16. The previous Podcasts app on CarPlay focused on the Now Listening feature, but other ways to find the right podcast episode required the iPhone app. Starting with iOS 16, users will now be able to find downloaded or saved episodes as well. Three new wallpaper options with light and dark mode support are among the innovations.

CarPlay will be an important development for Apple’s car by gaining new features in the future. So what do you think about iOS 16 and the new features offered? You can share your views with us in the comments section.
