Activision has finally confirmed that the next game in the Call of Duty series will indeed be Modern Warfare 3. Moreover, there is a release date for the new game: November 10.
The publisher revealed both the name and the release date, with a teaser trailer echoing the “No Russian” scenario from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 released in 2009. We can also hear some dialogue snippets of characters such as Captain Price and Phillip Graves that seem to come from the Modern Warfare series.
Officially, that’s all Activision wants to reveal about the game right now. However, we may learn more later in August. The official website of the game franchise announced earlier this month that it will hold an in-game event in Warzone to promote Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.
Developer Sledgehammer Games is said to be the lead developer team for Modern Warfare 3, with another studio working to support the team. Although there is no explanation on which platforms the game will be released on, it is considered to be released on PC, Xbox Series X and S consoles and PlayStation 5 console. You can also predict that a lot of post-release DLC content will be released for Modern Warfare 3.
Ironically, Activision Blizzard and the Call of Duty series are likely to be owned by Microsoft when the full game is out. We’re still waiting to hear if the UK Competition and Markets Authority will change its mind to block a deal that would allow Microsoft to buy Activision Blizzard for $69 billion.
