Core Developers Meeting #136 attended by high profile Ethereum (ETH) developers was held on April 15th. Ethereum developers discussed post-merge testing and Shanghai upgrade. Meanwhile, dates have been set for Ethereum’s roadmap.

Ethereum 2.0 shadow fork schedule updated

In light of the Ethereum developers meeting held on April 15, researcher Christine Kim took to Twitter to share some details about Ethereum’s post-merge pre-merge test readiness. used i. In the tweet thread below, Kim talks about the roadmap of ETH 2.0 and the Shadow hard fork.

As a result of the results of the last split on Mainnet, next week Goerl testnet There will be two identical upgrades in . EF researcher and developer Tim Beiko proposed to fork out the Ropsten testnet and then the Goerli and Sepolia networks once this was complete. Therefore, all dApps currently running on the Rinkeby testnet may cease to operate.

As a result, Ethereum developers will no longer accept bids for Shanghai, the network’s first hardfork after Merge, which will take place in the first six months of the transition to PoS.

Merge launches in the third quarter of 2022

This update, which we previously reported as Kriptokoin.com, will include the launch of a new type of smart contract, EVM Object Format or EOF, and other important changes. Merge’s timing has not been updated by Christine Kim as the “Difficulty Bomb” for Ethereum (ETH) has yet to be delayed a second time. However, it is scheduled to take place in the third quarter of 2022. Tim Beiko announced on April 13, 2022 that Ethereum’s transition to Proof of Stake will begin “a few months later, not June.”

What will ETH 2.0 gain?

Ethereum 2.0 focuses on 3 points: transaction scalability, disk space, and maintainability. The upgrades aim to address these issues by changing the consensus algorithm from PoW to PoS and introducing shard chains. Shard chains aims to solve scalability problems by spreading the load of the network to 64 new chains. This phase will introduce shard chains to the Ethereum network to provide more capacity to store and access data. According to the developers, the introduction steps of the shard chain are still being resolved until it is released in 2022.
