If you ever wanted to change font sizes or add a shadow to make them more readable, Netflix is finally starting to let you do it easily.

If you’re mainly using Netflix on TV, this process used to be a lot more complicated than it should have been before. In fact, the complexity of this system caused many people who wanted to change their subtitle formats to not use this option. But the streaming giant has finally started rolling out the ability to customize captions and caption text within the TV app.

Reportedly, this feature looks and works similarly to the Amazon Prime Video TV app’s subtitle setting options. The service lets you choose between small, medium and large text, as well as four styles with and without drop shadows.

The service’s updated help page states that while a TV show or movie is playing, you can access these controls by going to Settings at the bottom of the screen and then selecting the subtitle size and style. However, this service is currently not available for changing the text appearance in Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese, Korean, Romanian, Thai and Traditional Chinese.

In recent years, more and more people are using subtitles when watching TV shows and movies, as well as foreign language productions, to avoid audio imbalances or dominant background noises that hinder understanding of dialogue. The ability to easily customize subtitles from within the app has long been a requested feature for many users.
