According to data from Apptopia, less than 1% of Netflix subscribers play the games offered by the service. The streaming firm launched its mobile gaming platform in November last year and has been expanding its gaming lineup ever since. The company hoped these games would help customers subscribe to the platform and make the service more attractive as competition heats up.
Despite these efforts, Netflix subscribers don’t seem to care too much about the gaming side of Netflix, as less than 1% of the 221 million Netflix subscribers play the games. In total, the game was downloaded 23.3 million times and reached an average of 1.7 million daily users.
Despite these low player numbers, Netflix is linking to its series in several different games. There are two Stranger Things games related to the series, and a game called Exploding Kittens, which is expected to be a Netflix series, is also on the lists. A chess game based on The Queen’s Gambit has also been added.
Although Netflix’s gaming platform is less than a year old, it continues to expand its library and build its player base. It seems unlikely that it will appeal to all Netflix customers who are actually there to watch TV shows and movies, but in the future it could grow enough to help the service retain existing subscribers and entice more people to buy subscriptions.
