Disney’s collaboration with Netflix ended years ago, but Marvel series have continued to stream on Netflix ever since. But now these series are leaving the platform.
Netflix has told viewers that Marvel-licensed Netflix originals will go offline on March 1. If you want to watch TV shows like Daredevil, Jessica Jones and The Punisher, you’ll have to act fast. Netflix’s warnings about this only appear when you watch a series for the first time on some devices and only in a profile.
It is unclear whether or when the series will return on Disney-owned Disney+. Disney had already signaled that it would move away from Netflix when it announced the service, which would turn into Disney+ in 2017, and then the final series were canceled in 2019. Disney wants to use Marvel as a compelling factor for its services, and keeping these shows on Netflix will certainly not help achieve that goal.
It is a matter of curiosity where the mentioned series will go. Netflix originals were notable for being “adult” series that “do not shy away from foul language and violence.” This category doesn’t quite align with Disney+’s overall focus on PG ratings, and shows could therefore be moved to Hulu instead.
