Netflix has been offering mobile games to its subscribers under the name Netflix Games for a while. The games that anyone with a Netflix subscription can try for free seems not enough for the giant video streaming platform. According to new information, Netflix has started the recruitment process for a “new AAA PC game”, as well as roles such as producer and engineer at the Los Angeles game studio.

Big-budget PC game coming from Netflix

Netflix has recently posted job postings for game director, art director, and technical director at its newly announced Los Angeles game studio. The developers to be hired will work on a new high-production IP called AAA.

Netflix’s desire to expand into games isn’t new, but the company’s efforts have largely focused on the mobile space so far. The games were added to the Netflix mobile app last November, and since then the company has released notable titles like Lucky Luna, Into the Breach, Desta: The Memories Between and Immortality, with dozens more under development. Netflix has also acquired Boss Fight Entertainment and Night School Studio studios for its advancement in this area.

On the other hand, there are not many details about the AAA PC game that Netflix plans to develop. However, the fact that “experience is preferred in FPS and/or Third Person Shooter games” in the published job list brings to mind that the new game will be in the FPS or third-person RPG genre. Netflix’s rapid entry into the game industry seems to be coming back.
