Code that developer Steve Moser found on the Netflix app and shared with Bloomberg suggests that the streaming giant may have started testing games that can be played on TVs. Moreover, Moser also talks about the possibility of using phones as game controllers in television games.

Apparently one line from within the app reads: “A game on your TV needs a remote to play. Would you like to use your phone as a game controller?”

Netflix stepped into the gaming world in 2021 with Android, iPhone and iPads. The streaming giant has since offered a number of ad-free games to Netflix subscribers from within its app. And the library containing these games is growing at a rapid pace. Unfortunately, we haven’t seen these games in the Netflix app for TV until now.

We don’t yet know how the company’s plan to bring games to TVs will work. Mike Verdu, Vice President of Game Development at Netflix, said last year that the company is seriously exploring a cloud gaming service and is looking to launch more than just ordinary games for television.

Currently, Netflix has around 55 games in its catalog for mobile devices. However, 40 more games are expected to be released during 2023.
