Netflix, one of the world’s largest TV series and movie platforms, announced that it established a mobile game studio last year and announced its first games. If you remember, the company, which established another mobile game studio in the past months, brought the former EA manager to the head of this studio.
However, all of the games announced by the platform were small-scale games that we can call “snack”. In fact, one of our followers said, “I guess there was no one waiting for AAA games”. It looks like Netflix has now rolled up its sleeves to make AAA games.
Looking for a designer for a large-scale FPS game
According to the job posting on Netflix’s own website, the company is looking for a game director for its main studio in Los Angeles. However, when we look carefully at the job posting, we see the phrase “We are looking for a talented game director to help us make our new AAA PC game”. In addition, the fact that experience in both FPS and TPS (Third Person Shooter) games and “Live Service” games is a preferred criterion in the sought-after skills shows that Netflix will make a big budget FPS game for PC. The term “Live Service” roughly means releasing an unfinished game, making it playable for many years with updates and additions. (For example Destiny 2 and Marvel’s Avengers)
It is also stated in the information given that a small-scale team has been formed for this project. At this point, considering that God of War was developed in 5 years with a team of 300 people, and approximately 1,000 people work in GTA V, we will have to wait a few years for Netflix to release this big-budget production.
The job posting also states that the game should include characters and stories that are suitable for Netflix’s series and movie content. In other words, this PC game will either be a game version of an existing content or a content about this game will be published.
