Netflix’s mobile gaming initiatives caught the attention of Xbox President Phil Spencer, who said the company was on the right track and took smart steps. During an interview with The New York Times’ Sway podcast, he talked about how tech companies look to games for inspiration. He then cited Netflix as an example. He talked about the studios they bought and how they learned about the creative process of interactive entertainment.
Spencer also stated that it would not be accurate to compare Netflix and Microsoft’s own Xbox Game Pass subscription service with each other. Game Pass, like Netflix, gives users access to games. But Netflix only provides access, while Game Pass entitles you to purchase and own them. The Xbox boss thinks the two formations have split at this point.
Mobile games for subscribers
These mobile games are not really a new step. But the games that have been available since last year are now available in the app stores of both Android and iOS devices.
