The highly anticipated TV adaptation of the game met with those who were waiting on Netflix in July, which we left behind. After this disappointment, there has been an important development regarding the future of the series in the past hours.

Netflix cancels Resident Evil: Biohazard

According to a report shared by Deadline, the Resident Evil series was canceled less than two months after the first season aired. Low viewership numbers were also cited as the reason why Resident Evil: Biohazard’s series could not get approval from Netflix for the new season.

Although the production reached a good audience when it first came out, it could not continue this success and was not in the top 10 of Netflix. In addition, it received very low ratings of 55% from critics and 27% from the audience on Rotten Tomatoes. Resident Evil had a score of 53 on Metacritic and a 3.9 on IMDB. These numbers showed that the production did not meet the expectations at all and ensured that it did not receive approval for a second season.

Developed by Andrew Dabb, Resident Evil features names such as Lance Reddick, Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nunez. The production focuses on the struggle for survival of the character named Jade Wesker, fourteen years after a deadly virus caused a global apocalypse in 2036. Wesker’s past in New Racoon City, what happened to his brother, and his father’s connections to the Umbrella Corporation are also covered in the series.
