When we consider that Pluto is not considered a planet, Neptune appears as the outermost planet of the solar system. And here is that Neptune, which has been experiencing a major global climate change for 17 years. Scientists have no idea what caused this change.

According to a study published in The Planetary Science Journal, Neptune’s global temperature dropped 8 degrees Celsius between 2003 and 2018 as the planet’s southern hemisphere slowly enters its summer period (which will last about 40 years). But by 2020, only the south pole has become 11 degrees warmer than it was in 2018.

Neptune’s average temperature is about – 220 degrees. The planet emits about 2.61 times as much energy as it receives from the Sun. Tracking the seasonal changes gives insight into the evolution of the planet’s atmosphere. These new findings are beyond expectations.

It is thought that observations to be made with NASA’s James Webb telescope will provide a more detailed view of Neptune and may solve this mystery in climate change.
