Meta, the new umbrella company of Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, said in its October 2021 behavior report that they are working to find and stop groups that try to manipulate public debate and act in a coordinated manner.
In its post, the company shared information about such groups that it had identified and removed from its platforms in the last four years. He also stated that the data will be updated every month so that the public can follow the developments on this issue in a transparent manner.

In the statement made by Meta, it is said that the company’s teams are fighting against deceptive campaigns in every part of the world, regardless of domestic and foreign, and that they find those who spread fake news and permanently block them from the platform.
The company says it also focused specifically on Nicaragua in October, removing a network of 937 Facebook accounts, 140 pages, 24 groups and 363 Instagram accounts in that country. As a result of this operation, it is stated that this group, which is associated with the Nicaraguan government and the Sandinista FSLN party, as well as its local connections in the country, has been permanently cleared from all platforms under the Meta umbrella.
The company says the CIB (Meta’s Coordinated Disapproved Behavior Unit) is aware of fraudulent account operations in many countries, regions and companies. He also says that he follows two different methods to combat this situation. The first examines local but independent groups. The other monitors networks of foreign origin that may be linked to governments.
When individuals or groups who believe they can do whatever they want by relying on their fake accounts are detected, it is stated that all accounts they are linked to are disconnected from the platform. In addition, the company says that accounts that have been removed in the past will prevent them from creating a new page if they want to join by making 2nd and 3rd attempts.
Facebook did not only promote the new virtual reality world they developed and the new roof company in its last event. It has also divided its teams into different units to be able to use it more efficiently. Just like the CIB, apart from Facebook and Instagram, it also has special units that deal with WhatsApp and other subsidiaries.
