El Salvador’s president, Nayib Bukele, tweeted that 44 countries will gather in El Salvador to discuss Bitcoin.
Bukele said, “32 central banks and 12 financial authorities (44 countries) will meet in El Salvador to discuss finance, digital economy, bankless banking, the launch of #Bitcoin and its benefits in our country.” .
These central banks and their officials are Nigeria, Egypt, Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Kenya, Uganda, It includes developing countries including Rwanda, Paraguay, Angola, Guinea and Madagascar.
Bukele’s tweets came a day after the Twitter account “Bitcoin Beach” said several countries were flying to El Salvador, thus officially confirming the meeting.
El Salvador became the first country to legally accept Bitcoin last September. It also holds more than 2000 Bitcoins on its balance sheet to date.
