NASA Receives Signal Again from Voyager 2, 20 Billion Kilometers Away, “Accidentally” Lost Communication!

NASA lost communication with the Voyager 2 vehicle, which was 20 billion kilometers away due to a wrong command 12 days ago. The agency announced yesterday that the signal was received from the vehicle again and that it is still in operation.

The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) lost communication with the Voyager 2 spacecraft, which has been exploring the universe since 1977, last month due to an error. The reason for this was that the antenna of the vehicle was pushed 2 degrees away from the Earth after a wrong command.

That’s why there was no connection to the vehicle for 12 days. While wondering when the vehicle will be reached again, a pleasing statement came from NASA.

NASA managed to get a signal from Voyager 2 again

The agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) said in a statement yesterday that Voyager 2 was reached days later, and a signal they described as “heartbeat” was received. Although full communication has not yet been established, the signal received during a normal scan revealed that the vehicle is still in operation. NASA stated that Voyager 2 is “in good health.”

JPL says the antenna is still far from Earth, and it may take October for it to return to its original state. However, he adds that the team will try to push this time forward by means of giant antennas spread around the world called Deep Space Network (DSN).

Sent in 1977, Voyager 2 is on an interstellar journey beyond the boundary of the Solar System. According to the information received, the vehicle is currently 20 billion kilometers or 18.4 light hours away from the Earth. When this is the case, communication becomes risky and the margin of error is very low. The fact that the materials are almost 50 years old is one of the things that makes it difficult. Despite all this, we can say that it is miraculous that the vehicle is still traveling in the depths of the universe and doing research for us.
