Former astronaut and today’s NASA head Bill Nelson expressed his thoughts on UFO sightings recently announced by US Navy pilots. Nelson states that he does not really understand what these events are about, suggesting that it is impossible to rule out the possibility that they belong to extraterrestrial life.
Former astronaut and Florida Senator Nelson is now a NASA administrator. In a recent live-streamed interview with the University of Virginia, he covered everything from space relations with China to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) observations. In that interview, Nelson said more than 300 unidentified flying objects have been seen since 2004, but their origins are unknown.
“I’ve talked to these pilots, and they know they’ve seen something, and their radar is locked on it. And they don’t know what it is. And we don’t know what it is,” Nelson told professor Larry Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Policy Center.
Nelson continues: “We hope it’s not an enemy on Earth that has this kind of technology. But it’s something. And that’s a mission we’re constantly searching for: ‘Who’s out there?’ ‘Who are we?’ ‘How did we get here?’ ‘How did we become as we are?’ ‘How did we evolve?’ ‘How did we become civilized?’ And ‘are there the same conditions in a universe with billions of other suns and billions of other galaxies?’ Everything is so big that I can’t understand it.”
“There are even theories now that there might be other universes,” Nelson added. “And if that’s the case, who am I to say that planet Earth is the only place where a civilized and organized life form like ours exists?”
Nelson; “I tell you what makes me think: we better be a better guardian of what we have because we are destroying it. I know what my mission is: to be a better guardian of this planet and a better citizen of planet Earth. But are there other planets of Earth out there? ? I definitely think it is because the universe is huge”, he added.
Once considered the domain of conspiracy theorists, UFO sightings have gained a new sense of legitimacy in recent years thanks to a series of featured images that gained mainstream media attention and were later endorsed by the Pentagon. In fact, this year, the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence even released a highly exaggerated report on UFO sightings. The report did not reach much conclusions and concluded that there was no evidence to confirm or deny that any of the observations were extraterrestrial life. Still, it seems that the US government is finally taking the idea of UFO sightings seriously after decades of impeachment. . .
