The strange, tiny structures discovered on the rocks in the deserts of South Africa and the Arabian Peninsula excite the world of science. Scientists now believe that these extraordinary formations are not formed by a geological process, but traces of an unknown life form.
These formations are called micro -cavities. These holes, which are about half millimeter wide, can grow up to 3 centimeters. Although they seem ordinary at first glance, they actually have a very complex and meaningful structure.
Micro -cavities were first described by Professor Cees Passchier of the University of Gutenberg about 15 years ago in a field study in the Namibia region of South Africa. This discovery was followed by similar structures found in the marbles in Saudi Arabia and the limestone in Oman. Apparently, these mysterious micro formations appear in different geographies around the world.
Biological marks and mysterious microorganisms
The detailed investigations of scientists have revealed traces of biological material in and around these micro tunnels. This shows that the tiny tunnels in the rocks are formed by microorganisms. In other words, there were microorganisms that formed living spaces by carving the rocks in our world millions of years ago. This gives us clues about the durability of life and the effort of survival.

In the research conducted in the micro -nests in Namibia, the team came across the deposits of calcium carbonate in powder form. Calcium Carbonate
However, the biggest mystery right now is that we do not know which organisms are these tunnels. These creatures can be bacteria, fungi, lichen or a completely different life form. Unfortunately, the researchers were able to reach neither DNA nor protein residues because the age of the samples was quite old. This creates a major obstacle for researchers.
An important question mark: Where are these organisms?
The biggest question in the minds of scientists is: Are these organisms completely lost their existence in the world, or are they in isolated way, in a region that no one can reach? The answer to this problem may only arise with further studies in the depths of the deserts.
Such discoveries not only understand the history of life on Earth, but also provide new clues for the search for life on other planets. The process of formation of micro -cavities may shed light on the examination of similar structures on planets such as Mars. Who knows, this discovery will perhaps open a door that life may be more common in the universe.
