MSI Project 491C features
The screen of MSI Project 491C will be produced by Samsung Display. As you know, Samsung Display has produced three more QD-OLED displays so far. These were used on the company’s 55-inch and 65-inch TVs and 34-inch ultra-wide panels found on the Alienware AW3423DW.
Additionally, MSI’s monitor will also be curved, though the company has yet to mention how aggressive the curvature will be. On the screen resolution side, there are several possibilities. At first, the gaming monitor may offer a limited resolution of 3,840 x 1,080, but this is highly unlikely given the high-end nature of QD-OLED displays at the moment. However, it’s possible that the same size has a resolution of 5,120 x 1,440, like some of Samsung’s latest super ultra-wide VA panels.
Finally, the most exciting option: MSI Project 491C could be one of the “8K ultra-wide” monitors that AMD mentioned at the RDNA 3 event with DisplayPort 2.1 support, which provides 7,680 x 2,160 resolution.
Details to be announced at CES 2023
Whatever the case, the MSI Project 491C will set the highest standard ever in a QD-OLED panel with its 240Hz refresh rate. For now, there is no price or exact release date information for the MSI Project 491C gaming monitor. All the details will be revealed at CES 2023 in January.
