MSI, one of the leading names in the OEM PC market, announced that the brand’s “information systems” were cyber-attacked. The attack listed on the “Money Message” portal, a new ransomware gang, may pose a danger to users. Money Message threatens to release all these allegedly stolen documents in about five days if MSI does not meet their ransom demands.

MSI has been hacked

The report by Bleepingcomputer states that screenshots pointing to software source code, private keys and BIOS firmware files in MSI’s CTMS and ERP database were shared on the Money Message portal. MSI, on the other hand, shared a new announcement stating that the systems are gradually functional again and that the attack had an insignificant impact.

MSI did not provide details about which software was affected or whether information was compromised after the attack. However, the giant manufacturer warns customers not to download MSI BIOS/UEFI/firmware updates or drivers from any source other than MSI’s official website or software.

This warning indicates that drivers or software that may pose a danger to users may appear in the coming period. Therefore, we advise users to be careful.
