Computer hardware manufacturer MSI has reported that it has been the victim of a cyberattack. The statement on the company’s website is as follows:

“MSI recently suffered a cyberattack on some of its systems. The IT department immediately put in place appropriate protection mechanisms, conducted recovery activities, and reported the incident to government law enforcement and cybersecurity units. Affected systems are now operating normally.”

Hackers demand $4 million ransom

MSI urged users to download firmware and BIOS updates only from the company’s official website and not to use files from third-party sources. It was not reported whether user data was stolen in the attack. The company promised to further strengthen its cybersecurity architecture to reduce the risk of similar incidents in the future.

The first information about a cyber attack against MSI emerged on April 6. A ransomware gang called Money Message has reportedly demanded a $4 million ransom, claiming to have stolen 1.5TB of data.
